Dental Protection has launched a week-long series of free webinars for young dentists and new entrants to the profession, starting from Monday 14 June 2021.

Each ‘Truth Talks’ webinar features three or four short TED-style talks on what it means to be a dentist today. Speakers include leading industry specialists, experts from Dental Protection and social media content creators from across the profession, all coming together to give a true, no-holds-barred view of modern practice.

The events will take place over four evenings, Monday-Thursday, each focussing on a different theme and finishing with a QA with all speakers:

Monday evening’s session will include a talk on what ‘no win no fee’ solicitors are looking for when they bring claims or complaints against practitioners and how to reduce risk, by Paula Conwell, Litigation Solicitor at Dental Protection. Following this, Dental Protection’s Ravi Gupta will explore how Dental Protection supports regulatory proceedings using real-life cases. Closing the evening, Simritt Ryatt from Dental Protection will discuss how to handle complaints with confidence.

Tuesday evening will take a deep dive into brand-building; exploring the benefits and risks of social media. This session will include talks from Dr Shaadi Manouchehri, dentist and TikTok content creator, Shaz Memon, Founder of Digimax Dental and author of Instagram for Dentists.

Wednesday evening will look at what it means to be a dentist in 2021, with a talk on teledentistry and innovation by Loven Ganeswaren, Founder of Chairsyde and working effectively in the NHS by Vaghela and Ali Chohan, Directors at Smile Clinic Group.  This will be followed by a closer look at how Dentolegal Consultants operate, with Dental Protection’s George Wright, and a session on career pathways.

Thursday marks the final evening of ‘Truth Talks’ and takes an unflinching look at wellbeing and burnout with MPS’s Dr Pallavi Bradshaw, and tackling imposter syndrome with Mahrukh Khwaja, Positive Psychologist Practitioner and Founder of Mind Ninja. Closing with a keynote speech from Raj Rattan.

Raj Rattan, Dental Director at Dental Protection said:

“We’re delighted to be able to offer this series of free ‘Truth talks’ for newer entrants into the profession. After the events of the past year, it has been a strange and challenging time to be starting out in dentistry. There is no better time for an honest discussion about the many aspects of modern dentistry with some of the industry’s leading figures.

“Despite the challenges however, dentistry is still a rewarding and inspirational profession to be part of and these talks will look forwards at how we can all build resilience and confidence, and ultimately continue to provide patients with the very best care.”
